CASEY THE CELL PHONE THAT BULLIED is a delightful story, yet it delivers a very important message for students, educators and parents. The topic of cyber-bullying is a major growing concern for schools and families across the globe, and this book catches everyone's attention while addressing pertinent issues and solutions. Discussion questions and activities are an extra bonus at the end of the story. Casey, Melinda's cell phone, comes to life in this story of a young girl and her adventures at school. Melinda feels rejection when her friends turn on her because they think that she is sending ugly messages to them on Casey. She gets in serious trouble with her principal and her mother because cyber bullying will not be tolerated at school. Melinda is hysterical because she knows that she is not the one texting. Finally, her teacher discovers that Billy has taken her phone and is using it secretly. The strong messages are reinforced about passwords, keeping up with your phone and using the cell phone in an appropriate manner. Bonus activities are included so that all children will completely understand this message and use these skills in their lives. JANICE MCCURRY, a retired high school counselor, lives with her husband in Seguin, Texas. She is co-owner of Bustin'Bullies, an anti-bullying business that travels all over the state. Her passions are writing, painting, gardening and enjoying her nine grandchildren! Her experiences as a counselor have inspired her to write this book that could make a difference in children's lives. While Janice was a school counselor, she enjoyed all aspects of counseling. But the one thing that touched her heart was the hurt and rejection that many students felt because of bullying. No matter the age of the child, bullying destroys self esteem, dreams, and freedom to be happy at school and learn to the best of one's capabilities. Her dream and heartfelt passion is to be able to make a difference for every child and adult that reads her books and uses the activities to personally insure the message is not only understood, but taken to heart.
