The heroine, though small for her twelve years, was a wonderful young person where household affairs were concerned, but rather at sea when she went to a boarding school. At first her undistinguished form at hockey, her responsibility for a disaster in a three-legged race, and her small size, vexed her as handicaps, but very soon she had opportunities for shining in her own sphere. An epidemic of influenza was one of the incidents which gave her her chance. One way and another she soon made herself liked by everybody--including the big Betty Wilkinson--and before the end of the story the school has good reason to be grateful to her. She is a jolly little girl, with a head on her shoulders, and her schoolfellows include some amusing and memorable young characters.
