This young adult novel grabs our attention through a combination of romance and science. Laila Fortuny, a recent high school graduate, wishes to continue her studies. However, her parents have both lost their job, which forces her to get a job as a waitress at the restaurant of the European Center for Nuclear Research. There she meets Brian, a doctoral student who has worked in New Mexico with military projects. He offers to show her the facility and teach her the secrets behind quantum physics.
