The desire for a life of bohemian atmosphere and intellectual dicussions that Gregorio had during his youth disappears as he grows up and becomes a clerk. One day he begins a phone relationship with Gil, a man his age living a provincial life. Gil needs a hero and so he revives Gregorio's old dreams of becoming a symbolic figure. Faroni, the hero developed by Gregorio, is young, cultivated, handsome, sociable, an engineer and a poet, a musician and an explorer. When Gil announces his visit one day, Gregorio makes plans to get out of the city and return to his peaceful life, but it's too late. Gregorio and Gil, like two adolescents who start playing dangerous games at a late age, cannot live without each other and without the non-existing paradise where Faroni reigns as leader and prophet.
