The Jerusalem Bible is a re-translation of all of the original texts of the Bible from Hebrew into modern English. This is the Salvador Dali edition of the The Jerusalem Bible. The Illustrations are by Salvador Dali in Italy. In order to reprint this work in soft cover and at lower cost it has been necessary to divide this book in three parts because the original book is 1786 pages, far too long for a soft cover book. The most a soft cover book can normally hold is about 750 pages and many soft cover printers refuse to print a book longer than that. This is the second volume which is The Wisdom Books through the Minor Prophets, pages 629 to page 1340. Volume Two starts with the Book of Job which all authorities agree is the most profound and philosophical book in the Bible. It explains that good men are sometimes published and bad men are sometimes rewarded. The rest of the Old Testament of the Bible mostly recounts events of history. It is only in the Book of Job that the philosophy behind the religion becomes apparent. Volume Two also includes books which Martin Luther classified as Apocrypha. These are books which are accepted by some Christians and Jews but not by others, such as the Book of Judith and the Book of Tobit. Volume Two concludes with Malachi 3:6, page number 1340 here, which says that any Jewish man who marries or has children with a non-Jewish woman must be driven away, because he has committed a grave crime which has contaminated the race. The most important part of Volume Two is the last paragraph, where it says "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of Jehovah come." This is believed by Christians to predict the coming of Jesus Christ and, following that, the Armageddon and the Apocalypse, the end of the world.
