The artist Fritzia Irizar questions the value of money and its purchasing power through objects taken out of their common environment which take on symbolic qualities. Irizar removes their monetary value and transforms the perception that viewers have of them. Fritzia Irizar (Culiacan, Mexico, 1977), with a degree in Visual Arts from the Painting, Sculpture and Engraving School of La Esmeralda in Mexico City, has been awarded many scholarships and distinctions, the most notable of which is a fellowship from the BANCOMER-MACG Current Art program. Irizar has received the national Antonio Lopez Saenz Award and the Visual Arts Award of Northwest Mexico Biennial. Her work recently formed part of the Mercosur Biennial in Brazil.
